Day 192: Nougat Gateau of Tours

This will be short. The Meet Me At Mikes list for this week is 'Favourite Smells'. I have an insanely bad sense of smell. Apparently, according to a very quick and random search of the internet, a bad sense of smell is not something to brag about. Macquarie University did a study in which they concluded that psychopaths have a bad sense of smell. Coincidence? I didn't think I was one. Apparently, though, it is not just about pulling the wings off insects and escalating from there. Non-criminal psychopaths are superficially charming, not empathetic and have a tendency to be impulsive. If my latest clothing purchases—online and on an op-shop/thrift store day out—are anything to go by, then smell and control over impulses are both lacking in me. If I could smell them, the following would be my favourite smells:

Irene               List_Addict

The sandy smell of big raindrops at the start of a heat-busting summer storm.

Fresh ground coffee being brewed.

Warm bread smelled close.

Puppy-dog. Mine smells divine, wet or dry. Apparently dogs have a range of temperatures, unlike humans with their standard one-or-there-is-an-issue. Lollii runs high. It makes her musky and puppiful and robust in her smelliness. These are the good smells. Luckily I am slow at getting the bad smells when they happen.

The briney sea when she slaps herself on the shore.

Garlic. Disclaimer: when it's cooking, not as a body fluid afterwards. Although it is one of those things (and excuse me for saying it) that smells bigger than it tastes.

BBQ when you walking home, thinking about dinner, on a balmy summer night and everyone is out cooking.

This one is a little odd, but I used to love the smell of regular, normal petrol before they mucked around with it. Not in an addictive way. It reminds you of roadtrips and the uncanny nature of services in the middle of nowhere.

  3. I don't know why but I adore the smell of fresh oil. I think that may be another sign of being a psychopath.

Unlike you though I have a sickly keen sense of smell. Crazy bloodhound my husband calls it.

I adore the golf shoes. I hope they don't mess up your floors.

    bisous
