Day 196: Resting My Empathetic Mountain-Sore Legs

If lack of empathy is a sign of being a psychopath, then the mountain stages of the Tour de France have their roads lined with psychopaths. What is wrong with these morons? I'm annoyed and I am not trying to climb Alpe-d'Huez. Twice. It's like watching The Cable Guy. It makes me anxious. Surely four seconds of being on a world-wide transmission in a fluro mankini is not worth the disrespect they bring to a hundred plus elite athletes pushing their bodies to the kinds of extremes these flabby drunks can not even imagine. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but the douche-bags (yes, I will go so far) are gender specific. I never see a lady running along yelling in the face of a rider and risking getting their cape or flag or possum costume stuck in their spokes. With two climbs up the mountain on one stage, the organisers decided to close the mountain access two or three days before the cyclists came past. That meant all these idiots probably sat for three days on the Alpe. I am sure, without doubt, that they spent a large proportion of that time drinking alcohol. Otherwise it has to be a part of human nature I don't want to credit. Shame Tour spectators. Don't make me rant again please.

Guess what. I'm jumping on the 'eating to lose weight' bandwagon again. Boring! There is a Pinterest pin of a 'someecard' which says: 'Nobody wants to hear about your diet. Just eat your lettuce and be sad'. Sums it up. I hate dieting with a passion. And you have all given me good advice in the past about how silly the concept of dieting is in the first place. I know. Like Carrie Bradshaw says: 'The problem is not your thighs, its your head'. But these pounds are not going to loose themselves. And there is the little thing about me committing to giving a hundred dollars to five evil conglomerates for every one kilo out of twenty five that I don't lose by the fourth of April next year. So I'm trying the 5:2 'eating pattern'. Five days of eating normally (as well as possible) but pie allowed if needed, and two days fasting on five hundred calories. Yes, there is bad press about it. Apparently it has only been thoroughly tested on locusts or something similar. But I'm giving it a go. It sounds like something I could stick to. Let's see. And I'll try to minimise telling you about it.

  1. Good luck with the 5:2. Remember, eating normally does not mean making up for the 2 days fasting.

Love the lemony yellow in this outfit! The yellow petticoat will brighten up many an ordinary skirt.

    1. Thanks. And yes, good point. I believe they found people generally tended not to, but I will keep the choccy biscuits out of the house!!

  2. I want to hear all about your mood swings and breakdowns on those two days.

My girlfriend did a no carb/fasting combo diet and wanted to take someone's head off by the 8th day. She said she felt like crying and killing someone at the same time. BUT she did lose 5 lbs.

I would be stuffing my mouth like crazy the day before the 500 calories and then again the day after the 500 calories. Hence why I don't "do" diets. Even the thought of limiting my intake makes me salivate and my tummy grumble.

Seriously though I hope you do well. You are trying everything. Something needs to stick.

Yellow and purple are one of my favourite combos.

You are rockin' that yellow tutu.

    bisous

    1. It is funny what the psychology does. I often have days when I don't eat a lot, but as soon as I tell my body I am doing it, it goes all silly and 'O. M. G. Are you ever going to feed me again'-like. It's not too bad though. I hop it sticks too. Xxx

  3. Love the yellow, black and purple together, so cute. I too hate dieting with a passion although I've done many. And they work! All of them. Problem is, I go back to eating like a normal person and gain it back : ( A vicious cycle for sure.
