Day 91: Getting My Ordinary On!

It is the monday diet ramble-on/check-in. Mathematicians will be able to follow this easily, the rest of you just listen and concentrate. When I made the promise to lose twenty-five kilos I didn't realise that I had over-commited. Twenty-five would take me to X kilos, a little more than needed but I got used to the idea. When I got back from holiday though, I found to my great amazement that I weighed A, more than I thought (surprise, surprise) and that losing twenty-five would take me to Y. Y is more realistic but now I wasn't happy. I decided to aim for Q which is between X and Y. That meant losing twenty-seven. I am glad to report that I am now back to only needing to lose twenty-five. Does that make any sense? Ultimately it means I have twenty-five kilos to go but I have already lost two kilos. Hopefully this slippery piece of algebra is in no way calculate-able (that one is for the word-smiths rather than the number-smiths) to come out with my actual weight—A=Q+25 where Q=2/3(Y-X)—that would be too mortifying.

I am looking at a loose application to the Paleo (cave man) diet. Meat and veggies, good oils, no sugars or carbs. But I will allow for a bit of carb-age as eggs for breakfast everyday would drive me insane. Too many eggs make my teeth feel funny. Also, despite saying I have 'given up' sugar, it is more 'mostly given up'. Still have one in my coffees (two in the coffee before I go to bed—that is a whole other issue which I am not going near broaching at this point in time). Now if I could just go shopping for food this may all start to fall into place somewhat. I would love to just wheel around an IV drip stand and not have to actually go through the eating process unless a social event called for it, but apparently that isn't an option. Although maybe I could see an actual medical professional (don't do them, I am a medical atheist) and see it they could write me a prescription. I just get a feeling they wont. What I find ironic is that when you Pinterest search for 'Paleo Recipes', there are very few actual meals that come up. What everyone is pinning is get-around ways to make cakes, biscuits and sweets. We all do just want to eat cake, let's face it!

  2. beautiful blue!

whatever you do don't go low fat in anything. the stuff they put into low fat dairies etc turns to sugar in the body. pure and simple and as sugarfree as bearable is way to go.

    brekky soon?

  4. Welcome to the Paleo Community, I hope you like it.

Regarding someone working out your weight, you have four variables and only two equations, so it can't be worked out. You need four equations to work out four variables.

    1. That is the level of mathematical mysteriousness I was seeking. No way I actually want anyone to work it out. Are you pure paleo? Apparently we have an ice age coming and meat will be the go anyway.

    2. I don't have the discipline to go pure Paleo all the time, although I'm in day 2 of a 30 day attempt. I did it a couple of years ago and felt fantasic by the end. Trouble is, once you fall off the wagon, it's hard to get back on again.

    3. P.S. I'm so jealous that Melanie is commenting on your blog - I picked out her blog from Not Dead Yet as the one to read (not counting yours of course).
